---- Chapter 15 Right before losing consciousness, Madeline saw Timothy's figure appear before her. She vaguely heard Lacey whining to him, but she didn't have the strength to speak up for herself. Her brows were tightly furrowed, and the blood had drained from her face. The stark lights shone down on her, making her look as white as a sheet. She reached out for Timothy, her voice shaking as she rasped, "Take me... to the hospital... now..." He felt like a heavy boulder had crashed down on him without warning. His vision went black for a split second, and he tasted a metallic tang in his mouth. A fist seemed to clench tightly around his heart, releasing it briefly before crushing it again. He couldn't breathe. He hastily scooped an unconscious Madeline into his arms, catching sight of the drops of blood on the floor. The sight pierced his eyes, making him want to squeeze them shut. Grief hit him like an avalanche. For a moment, he ---- saw the bliss that had been within reach shatter into countless pieces around him. Everything he'd tried so hard to maintain was now ruined. Acrowd quickly gathered, and someone called an ambulance. Lacey stood beside Timothy, looking anxious and flustered. Her concern didn't seem faked as she called his name. "Timothy!" He turned to look at her. She leaned close to him, asking, "Are you okay? Do you need me to help with anything?" He stepped back before she could get any closer, not wanting her to touch him at all. After a moment, he shook his head, saying coldly, "I told you I would deal with this. Why did you have to come and taunt her? Why did you blow things out of proportion?" She turned ashen and was unable to say a word. She looked like she'd suffered a huge blow as tears filled her eyes. ---- Inside the operating theater, a doctor said to Madeline, "You're pregnant. As your doctor, I must advise you of the risks you're taking. Based on previous cases, there is a risk of fetal deformity due to the trauma. It's too early to confirm anything now, but I would suggest you consider termination if there are abnormalities." Her breathing grew lighter as she caressed her belly, trying to sense the almost negligible presence there. She didn't hesitate for long before saying, ''Get rid of it." She knew she was being impulsive, but she didn't dare bring the child into a world of instability. She wasn't prepared for it, and there were too many uncertainties at the moment. There was no denying that Timothy didn't love her and that she was highly insecure. She didn't want the baby to become something that would bind them together. Madeline told the doctor to hide the pregnancy and decided to end it before anyone else heard about it.
