---- Chapter 4. Owen's POV "What?" I shouted, pushing Ashley out of my arms and running straight out the door. I was nearly out of my mind while I drove home, and I almost crashed into the guardrails along the road several times. My wolf and I were both agitated and restless. Again and again, I tried to reach Ivy through the mind-link, but there was never any response. I broke down as I slammed my fists wildly against the steering wheel. "No, no! This can't be happening! Ivy is so strong. Nothing could happen to her!" When I arrived at the villa, the flames had already dyed the night sky red. "Alpha Owen, you're finally here!" The pack ---- member who was helping put out the fire came to report the situation, but I couldn't hear a word he said. All I wanted was for Ivy to stand in front of me, telling me she was fine with a smile. "Alpha Owen!" I refused to believe anything had happened to my Luna and rushed into the burning villa, ignoring everyone's attempts to stop me. Falling beams crashed onto my body, but I couldn't feel a thing. The searing flames closed in, but I didn't retreat. Ivy was waiting for me! I shouted with everything I had, "Ivy, where are you? Answer me!" But even after the fire was extinguished, there was no sign of her. ---- I stared at the charred remains of the house and the smoke-filled corridors, and I felt like the blood in my veins had frozen. This was impossible. She couldn't have left me like this. I started clawing through the blackened wood with my bare hands. Even though the burns made my hands shake uncontrollably, I couldn't stop. Finally, with numb, bloodied fingers, I found a shattered crystal containing a message from Ivy. Her calm voice rang out from it. "Owen, I'll never forget the day you saved me at the marking ceremony. At first, I thought it was just pity, and that you were trying to spare my dignity. But over time, your gentle care for me made me fall hopelessly in love with you. "you promised to give me the grandest marking ceremony, but even without it, I was already
