Chapter 10 Kieran's POV. Overnight, the entire North was buzzing with gossip about the Wolfe family's humiliating spectacle. They mocked me for leaving Cecelia before the ceremony had even ended yesterday, and now I was desperate to throw her out. The room was destroyed, and every breakable object had been smashed to pieces. I glared at Lucian, who stood before me seething with rage, and at Cecelia, who clutched Tyra while sobbing hysterically. Then, I tightened my grip on the knife and pressed the blade deeper into my wrist. "Let me go find her, or we'll all die together," I said, my voice ice-cold and final. Even though I had read Elise's letter several times, I still believed she had been driven away by Lucian or even Cecelia herself. The moment I woke up, I had planned to find Elise and run away with her, never coming back. However, the Elders stopped me at every turn, drugged me until I could barely stand, and even brought Cecelia with Tyra to try to convince me to stay. If Elise were still here, I might have hesitated slightly. Now that she was gone, my weakness had vanished, too. I had nothing to lose. "You fool! Put the knife down! You're not acting like an Alpha at all. You're disgracing our entire pack!" Lucian roared. "Kieran, please stay for the sake of our pups," Cecelia pleaded through her tears. Everyone around me was using different reasons to pressure me, forcing me to stay with someone I did not love, raise the pups. born from duty, and live in a union I despised. No one had considered my feelings, and no one had thought about Elise's feelings either. "You've already destroyed me once. I didn't want to sleep with her, but you drugged me. Everything turned out this way because of what you did. Besides, I never wanted the pups," I growled. My voice trembled with fury. Back then, I truly had not wanted to touch Cecelia. In fact, I felt sick just being in the same room as her. However, the Elders' Council had conspired with her to drug me. Originally, my first instinct upon waking had been to strangle Cecelia and then kill myself. However, the Wolfe family's elders had wailed and begged me, saying they were getting old and just wanted an heir. They reminded me that I was the Alpha with the purest bloodline in the entire Wolfe family, raised from birth as the heir, with the family investing over 20 years of effort into me. They would not allow me to be so selfish, thinking only of running away with Elise without leaving them anything. Even Cecelia fell to her knees and begged me. She swore she had loved me for a long time and asked for nothing in return. She said she would gladly carry my pup, and once the baby was born, she would help me leave with Elise. 1/3 In the end, Lucian had even brought my parents to join Elise in threatening to take their own lives if I did not comply. I was cornered with no way out, and I finally gave in. Yet, their greed kept growing. After Tyra was born, they claimed that she would be lonely being an only child and that a girl could not rule alone, demanding a son. They kept forcing me to compromise, driving me insane. Now that I had finally found freedom, they had driven Elise away. There was no way I could accept it. The standoff dragged on. Suddenly, Cecelia bent over, clutching her stomach with a sharp cry. "It hurts!" The next moment, her grip loosened, and Tyra nearly fell to the floor. "Cecelia!" Lucian's expression changed dramatically as he saw blood gradually staining the white fabric under Cecelia's dress. He shouted, "Quick! Get help!" After a chaotic scramble, the Elders rushed the miscarrying Cecelia to the hospital. Just as she was wheeled into the operating room, the Donati family came rushing over in a panic. Cecelia's mother, Helena Greymark, immediately slapped me across the face. "Kieran, is this how you take care of Cecelia? If anything happens to her, I will never forgive you!" The slap knocked my head to the side, and blood trickled from the corner of my mouth. Even so, I stood there like a soulless puppet, letting Helena point at my nose and berate me. Seeing this scene, Lucian quickly stepped forward to defend me. "Mrs. Donati, whatever went wrong was our fault. I promise that once Cecelia recovers, I'll make sure Kieran takes proper care of her and never lets anything happen to her again." Helena did not believe him at all and scoffed. "Take care of her? Kieran is ready to run off with another woman. How is he supposed to take care of anyone? Cecelia has sacrificed so much for him all these years, bore him one pup, and is now carrying another. She asks for nothing in return, and this is how your family treats her? "If you can't take proper care of Cecelia, I'll take her and Tyra back home. The Donati family is perfectly capable of supporting them!" When Lucian heard this threat, he panicked completely and slapped me hard on the back. "What are you standing there for? Apologize! Now!" I still did not move, refusing to even glance at them. I had not done anything wrong, yet they were pinning all the blame on me. The screaming, pleading, and chaotic voices around me blended like an invisible hand slowly crushing me. 2/3 Chapter 10 Just when I felt like I could not breathe, an angry roar echoed from the distance.
