Chapter 13 Kieran's POV. It was another rainy day. Every member of the Wolfe family wore expressions clouded with heavy gloom, their movements careful and deliberate, afraid of displeasing their leader. After the devastating blow, Lucian was bedridden, and the Elders' Council decided I should temporarily take over the entire Wolfe family, handling both the pack and all its businesses. While managing the empire, I kept searching for Elise's trail. After just one week, exhaustion etched itself across my face. I rubbed my temples as I looked at the guard bowing before me. "Still nothing?" The guard stayed silent, lowering his head even further. Ever since Lucian and the Elders saw Cecelia and Helena's true nature, they had agreed to let me bring Elise into the family as my Luna. When I heard the Elders make this decision, my heart filled with complex emotions. Even without their approval, I would have used every means possible to find Elise and overcome every obstacle to be with her forever. Now that I had the pack's blessing, the biggest barrier in my heart had completely vanished. This was good news for both Elise and me. So, I increased the search efforts. However, a week had passed, and there was nothing. Forget finding Elise herself; we did not even know where she had gone. When Lucian had sent Elise away, he had bought her a ticket to Hinland. Yet, when my people tracked her there, they were told she had never arrived. The airline revealed that Elise had changed flights mid-journey, so we followed the trail to her new destination. There, we learned she had boarded a local train. Where she had gone from there, no one knew. The trail had gone completely cold. That was the first frustration. The second came soon after. Someone knocked on my office door, and my assistant, Jacob Terrell, entered after receiving permission. "Mr. Wolfe, Ms. Donati is here again. She insists on seeing you and refuses to leave otherwise." Ever since the Wolfe family and Cecelia and Helena had their complete falling out, Cecelia had miscarried, and Helena had fallen ill. Both women's status had plummeted. Cecelia could not care less about Helena or her own post-miscarriage recovery, as she insisted on coming to see me. She wanted to beg me to continue living with her for Tyra's sake, claiming the pup was too young to be without her father. 1741 1/3 Chapter 13 +25 Bonus Cecelia had also promised she had learned her lesson and would never harm Tyra again, swearing she would live peacefully with me. To sway me for good, she had even brought Tyra to the company, waiting on her knees in the lobby while ignoring the hungry cries of the pup in her arms. Due to Tyra's presence, the guards could not forcibly remove them, so they sent Jacob to ask me what to do. I had once felt some paternal love for Tyra. However, thinking about how she carried half of Cecelia's bloodline and wondering if she might grow up to be as malicious as her mother, my pity for the pup instantly evaporated. I had not responded, only continued scrolling through my phone for any news related to Elise. When Jacob waited too long for my answer and was about to take matters into his own hands, I finally spoke. "If you ever dare bother me with this kind of thing again, you can roll out of here with her." Jacob stiffened, and he quickly agreed before hurrying out with slightly panicked steps. Down in the first-floor lobby, Cecelia was still on her knees, holding Tyra. Her face was deathly pale, and her body swayed unsteadily, while the pup in her arms had cried herself hoarse from hunger, her wails growing weaker. Yet, Cecelia acted as if she could not hear anything, her eyes fixed desperately on the executive elevator in front of her. Finally, that elevator moved. With a soft chime, the executive elevator descended from the top floor to the first floor, its doors slowly opening as a figure emerged. Instantly, Cecelia's previously vacant eyes blazed with sudden life. Ignoring her aching knees, she scrambled to her feet and rushed toward the figure. "Kieran..." Her voice rang with anticipation and excitement as she tentatively reached out toward the person. The next second, her hand stopped mid-air, and her smile froze. "Why is it you? Where's Kieran?" Cecelia looked anxiously behind Jacob, but she did not see the familiar figure she had been waiting for anywhere. Jacob looked at her with a blank face. "Ms. Donati, Mr. Wolfe has already made everything clear to you. Since you enjoy tormenting pups so much, you don't need to raise Tyra anymore." Those were the exact words I had told Jacob before he left. Cecelia's expression changed as she instinctively hugged Tyra tighter. "What do you mean?" The next moment, the sharp click of high heels echoed behind Cecelia. She turned to see her half-sister, Giselle Donati, approaching. Giselle snatched Tyra from her arms before she could react. "Since you can't take proper care of Tyra, I'll take over from now on. It works out perfectly since I can't have pups. Don't worry. I'll raise her like she's my own." "No! Don't!" Cecelia's face filled with terror as she frantically tried to grab Tyra back. 2/3 Chapter 13 +25 Bonus However, the bodyguards Giselle had brought knocked her unconscious with a swift hand and dragged her away. "Please tell Mr. Wolfe that we've taken her away and she won't be coming back. Also, congratulations on acquiring that plot of land in the northern district." Trading a piece of land for a pup was an extremely profitable deal for both sides. That was the last mercy I would show the child. 康 Support Share 3/3
