Serena Sterling walked past the corner, her tightly clenched hands trembling constantly, yet she didn’t stop and finally turned to walk into the bathroom. Turning on the faucet, she pressed two pumps of hand soap on the side and washed the blood off her hands. She was the only one here, the sound of running water echoing in the room. Serena meticulously cleaned her fingers one by one, thoroughly washing them inside and out. After cleaning them, she turned off the faucet. However, in the next moment. A tear dropped, falling onto the back of her hand. Then, one tear after another, they kept falling. Serena looked up, staring at herself in the mirror, her lips tightly pursed, still looking stubborn, yet her eyes were completely red. In her life, she once experienced childhood happiness, but after her father’s death, everything changed. The Sheridan Family fell into decline, her mother took her and wandered from place to place, eventually remarrying someone else. Her stepfather treated her poorly, venting his anger on her for no reason, even almost beating her to death. Later, he appeared and rescued her from the devil’s hands. She thought he would be her salvation. Even though from then on, her mother no longer acknowledged her as a daughter, she thought, as long as she had him, everything would be fine. She thought he would understand her, know that all she wanted was an ordinary happiness, but he still ended up destroying everything. The tears of the woman in the mirror continued to flow, yet she refused to make even a sound. The old members of the Sheridan Family included not only the old employees left by her father but also a mysterious information system, an encrypted black box, and some other things. Her father’s death was surrounded by mysteries, and over the years, she had not stopped investigating, but always faced numerous obstacles. After much exploration, the most likely scenario was that her father knew something he wasn’t supposed to know, or touched the interests of someone or a certain group, and thus was killed. And over the years, in that black box that could never be decrypted, within those vast, unreplicable encrypted messages, perhaps lies the ultimate truth. These things, when her father died, were personally taken over by Julian Lawson with the creation of the system department, and he was the person with the highest authority. Those encrypted messages are vast and unreplicable, they can only be applied through the corresponding system, so she can only get them from his hands. Perhaps he knew this, which is why he deliberately delayed. Serena slightly lowered her eyes, her fists clenched tight, suppressing the surging emotions in her heart. Without her, he would find no use for those things. Through litigation, she could obtain them. This was already the best outcome, if not for the fact that Julian thought their divorce was only a formality and didn’t carefully examine the agreement, she would hardly have had the chance to obtain them. Now, she just needed to wait for a while. She needed some patience, and also some time, to realize her commercial value. When she looked up again, Serena had already calmed down. She wiped the tears off her face, steadied herself a bit, and looking at herself in the mirror, she slightly lifted the corners of her mouth. Soon she would go to Bianca Lynch’s office to pick up Seraphina, she needed to properly adjust herself. After standing for a short while, Serena was sure she had adjusted well, then walked out and headed towards Bianca’s office. From a distance, she already heard Seraphina’s crisp voice, laughing. Serena couldn’t help but smile, it seemed she was having a great time with Bianca. Thinking this, Serena continued forward but did not speak, she wanted to see what they were doing. But as soon as she reached the door of Bianca’s office, she saw standing next to Seraphina wasn’t Bianca Lynch. It was Silas Hawthorne. The two of them were back to her. Seraphina was standing on a small stool, staring intently at something on the table. While Silas stood beside her, holding a pen in his right hand, occasionally smiling and explaining something to Seraphina. "Uncle Mortimer, does this kitten really look ?" Seraphina asked in her crisp voice, pointing at something on the desk. Silas nodded and smiled, "It’s at Uncle’s house now, when your Aunt Winters agrees, Uncle will take you to play with it, or bring it to play with you." Seraphina nodded vigorously, then said with a bit of frustration, "Uncle Mortimer, your hand is so steady, when I draw, it always goes crooked." "Uncle was the same when he was little, learning Chinese painting with a brush, and even secretly cried when he couldn’t learn it," Silas gently said to Seraphina in the office. "But then I made up my mind to practice writing calmly, and slowly, I made a bit of progress every day and finally learned it." "Really?" Seraphina’s eyes sparkled. Silas nodded, then reached out to hold Seraphina’s hand, guiding her. "See, doesn’t that make it a bit better?" Silas asked softly. "It really does!" Seraphina joyfully made a little leap. Silas extended a hand to gently support her, preventing her from falling off the small stool. The duo exchanged smiles, sharing a moment of warmth. Serena just stood there watching. Standing at the office door. Feeling somewhat unreal. "Aunt Winters!" Seraphina suddenly noticed her. She got down from the small stool and came to her side. Serena squatted down and hugged Seraphina. "Aunt Winters, Uncle Mortimer and I were drawing," Seraphina said, leading Serena to the table. Serena looked up and then saw Silas smiling and nodding at her. Serena nodded back and, with Seraphina’s guidance, reached the table. On the table were two paintings, one with naively drawn lines was Seraphina’s work, while the other, with just a few strokes, looked very experienced and lifelike. The subject was a cat, the ragdoll cat Serena had seen before. It was drawn by Silas. "Aunt Winters, Uncle Mortimer said you saw this cat, is it true?" Seraphina asked curiously, "Does it really have such a big tail and can do backflips?" Serena found it somewhat amusing, it seemed Silas was quite fond of his chubby ragdoll. She nodded with a smile, "Yes, I’ve seen it flip in front of me, its tail like a big furry brush." "Then can I..." Seraphina looked at Serena, then sneakily glanced at Silas, hesitated for a moment, and asked in a low voice, "Can I play with it?" Seraphina’s face showed a small expression of anticipation mixed with a bit of embarrassment. It seemed she really wanted to see the cat. The image of the night under the Ford Group practice building, Silas holding that cat for her, flashed in her mind. "If Uncle Silas agrees, then you can." Serena said, gently holding Seraphina’s little face. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝⁂𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚⁂𝔫𝔢𝔱 "Great!" Seraphina immediately looked at Silas with expectation. Silas squatted down, looking at Seraphina at eye level, "I’ll bring it to visit you someday." The two were already discussing the specific time and place. Conversing back and forth, they looked very harmonious. This left her feeling a bit dazed.
