Chapter 17 Alpha Theon's arrival was smooth and Peter sequestered him in the CEO office on the top floor as required. He hoped that would be far enough from Naomi's office that they'd never interact or see each other. "First, Peter" said Theon sitting down behind his large glass desk "I want to thank you for the excellent work on the border guards case. They went before the council yesterday and they have all been found guilty and sent to a lifetime in the mines." Peter bowed his head in acknowledgement of the praise from his Alpha, "I just have a few questions for you about it." Peter wasn't sure he liked what follow up questions from the Alpha meant. Feeling uneasy he nodded his encouragement for him to continue. "How did you know about any of this?" Theon asked Peter was prepared for this and had a story ready "One of the victims came forward, she asked to stay anonymous as she fears being treated differently by the pack." "Makes sense." Theon nodded. "One more question. Why is there a video missing?" "Wait. What?" asked Peter "The videos are numbered in the time stamps and video 22 is missing. I was made more serious as video 21 was the day before Naomi left and 23 was the day after Naomi left. I'm not one to jump to conclusions and I am really hoping I am wrong in what I am thinking here" Theon stated. All the muscles in his body were rigid as he asked Peter about this video. Peter didn't want to tell him what he seemed to already know as he could see his already struggling to supress his anger. "Before you freak out. They didn't do anything to her." Peter said confirming what Theon thought, Naomi was in the missing video. He could feel the Alphas anger rising "And I'm not just saying that to appease you. They didn't lay a finger on them before she kicked their asses. I only omitted it as they did tie her up and I didn't know what you would have done if you had seen that in the courtroom." He looked up at Theon who was getting himself back under control and looked a little proud She kicked their asses?" he asked smiling (( At 11am Theon called a meeting of some of the executives and Peter. They were all gathered in the long conference room sorting coffee orders with the assistant when something happened that made Peter realise that Naomi wasn't going to be able to hide. He was sat next to Theon who was talking about some numbers he didn't like when he suddenly went quiet and his eyes changed colour to indicate his wolf was talking to him and 1/3 Chapter 17 +15 Bonus trying to push forward. Peter could see by the strain on Theon's face he was trying to keep his wolf from taking over. Then in an almost whisper he heard the word he dreaded from Theon "Mate". Theon turned to Peter. With that Peter got up and left the room with Theon following behind him and they walked into Theon's office opposite. "Naomi's here" said Theon in an excited whisper. "Did you know? Why can I feel her? Where is she?" he asked Peter getting closer and closer to him. Peter stepped back away from him. "What makes you think Naomi is here?" asked Peter. He wanted to confirm what he suspected before he put his foot in it for Naomi. "I can feel her. The bond didn't break. It couldn't have, She's here and I need to go to her" he said a little angrily as he felt Peter was purposefully keeping her from him. "If she is I don't know where" Peter replied. Feeling annoyed Theon logged into his laptop to check the personnel list to see where Naomi worked but her name wasn't in the database. "What is she going by now Peter?" he asked in frustration, his tone a warning to the other man to be honest. "No clue" Peter replied, no trace of the lie in his voice. Theon looked through the photos of the staff id's until he came to a striking brunette and instantly his heart started to beat faster and his wolf growled. There she was. Natalie Lane. She had hidden herself well. Right under his nose in fact but she couldn't hide forever. He had her now and she wasn't going anywhere. Theon rushed out of the office to the elevators to go find her, Peter following behind him to make sure nothing bad happened. At that same moment Naomi was stood in the lobby of her office building having massive regrets over her earlier confidence. No, no, no, she thought this cannot be happening. Taking deep breaths, she stumbled over to the sofa by the reception desk. I cannot be feeling this. The mate bond was broken by the rejection so why is Artemis screaming mate in my head and my senses going haywire? The mate bond was like an imaginary string holding together the hearts and souls of the two fated people and the rejection was meant to shred it beyond repair and the two people involved were never to feel connected again. He rejected me and I accepted. Why can my heart feel him near? thought Naomi in a panic. Then it hit her, shit if she could feel him could he feel her. Naomi didn't know what to do. Was running going to help her at this point? She pulled out her phone and called Peter but he didn't pick up the phone. Naomi decided her best course of action was no action at all and to just carry on as if this wasn't happening. The bond wasn't like a GPS, he may know she was in the building, but he 13 BONUS couldn't find her unless her looked at every person. So, if she went to her desk, carried on as normal and ducked out if he came to her floor she could get away with this, just about. If she was lucky. Yes, because I am always so lucky, she thought rolling her eyes at herself. But as she walked to the elevator and the doors started to slide open, revealing a pair of grey eyes that haunted her, staring back at her and heard the word she was so desperately trying to hide from "Mate" Comments Support Share 3/3
