Chapter 4 On their wedding anniversary day, Maverick posted an article on social media at zero o'clock to express his love for and gratitude to Raelynn. Within several hours, there had been over ten million likes and forwards. The LED screens in the city all played their love story video, which Maverick had edited. Everybody could feel how much he loved her. Unbeknownst to Raelynn, a group of people came to their house and paved the path with 1,825 roses. In the middle of the path was an enormous hollow crystal ring that held new arrivals of designer clothes and purses. A small music box was on the top of the ring, playing Maverick's magnetic voice over and over again. "Hon, happy wedding anniversary. I love you. Always have, always will." Raclynn closed the door with a stony face and pulled the quilt over her head as if none of this had anything to do with her. A moment later, Maverick called. He apologized, "Hon, something went wrong with the cooperation. I won't be able to celebrate our anniversary with you. I'll make up to you when I get back." Listening to his stupid lie, she suddenly laughed in a trembling voice. "It's OK. Do your thing." "Hon, you're mad." He sensed her mood immediately. "I have many surprises for you. I hope you'll like them. I'll make up to you in a few days. Cross my heart." "I'm not mad. Work is more important. I don't feel well. I wanna sleep." Raelynn hung up nonchalantly. Curling up in bed, she tried to repress the pain threatening to devour her. The activities outside were still going on. The unmanned drones Maverick had arranged formed diverse shapes to demonstrate his love for Raelynn. The press was also present. Many reporters hoped to interview Raelynn to broadcast their romance. She ignored them. Her phone rang again and again, but she never answered. It was Maverick. Looking at the caller ID, she teared up again. She wanted to ask him why he broke his promise. Why did he fall in love with another woman? But in the end, she just turned off her phone silently and slipped under the quilt. After some time, the quilt was suddenly lifted. A strong beam of light shone in her eyes. In the light, she saw Maverick's haggard, pale face, his disheveled hair, and his worried and fearful eyes. He had rushed back upon sensing Raelynn's bad mood. He called along the way, but she didn't answer. He got ner- vous. 0.0 % 10:33 Seeing her, he held her tightly and wept in a hoarse voice, "Good. You're home. Hon, I'm sorry. My bad." His eyes reddened. His body trembled uncontrollably, "I won't leave you home alone again. When you ignore my calls, my world collapses. "Nothing is more important than you. I came back for our anniversary." Raelynn remained silent. Thinking that she was still mad, he dropped to one knee and coaxed, "Hon, promise me that you won't ignore my calls or me again. It'll kill me." 83.0 % 10:33
