Nia Mitchell looked at Shirley Grant in confusion, not quite understanding the reason behind her gloating expression. "I don’t need you to plead for me." Nia smiled faintly and sat back down in her seat. Her computer’s chatbox had unread messages; they were from Diana Hill. Nia was taken aback, somewhat puzzled as to why Diana was apologizing. Was it because she had been forced to take that call earlier? She replied simply, hoping Diana wouldn’t blame herself too much. After all, the situation had forced her hand; she couldn’t have done otherwise. Nia returned to her work. She never went out of her way to cause trouble for others. She was handling official business and had barely warmed her seat when Phoebe Walker ran out of the CEO Office, crying. "Nia Mitchell, what right do you have?!" Phoebe shouted, tears streaming down her face, completely unconcerned about her image at that moment. She couldn’t accept it. She was the victim, so why was she being transferred? The crucial point was, she had just been inside the CEO Office and learned that Nia Mitchell was completely fine. Was it simply because Nia Mitchell had Alan Morgan backing her? But she... she had backers too! Would he really show her no consideration at all? "Phoebe Walker, I’ll ask you to show some respect." Nia looked at her angrily, not expecting Phoebe to still have this attitude. Phoebe burst into laughter. Respect? Why on earth should she respect Nia Mitchell? "Nia Mitchell, let me tell you, do you think I’m your enemy? You’ll find out just how hard your days will be after I leave." Although she was used to being arrogant, her presence was what kept the Secretary Department in balance. Once she was gone, wouldn’t this place fall into chaos just the same? A newcomer, wanting to establish herself here? "I’ve never considered you an enemy. We’re all just employees working for others; we’re colleagues. You’ve been the one acting aggressively from start to finish. I believe the CEO saw this, and that’s why you’re being transferred." Nia remained very calm, but this very calmness made Phoebe want to lunge forward and throttle her even more. This was mockery! Sarcasm delivered from Nia’s stance as a victor! Phoebe took out a tissue, wiped the tears from her face, and composed herself after her outburst. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵•𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮•𝓷𝓮𝓽 "Although I’m being transferred, it’s not a demotion." She smiled at the entire Secretary Department. "Starting from next week, I will be the Director of the Finance Department." After saying this, Phoebe looked at Shirley Grant. This seemed like a transfer, but in reality, it was a promotion. Hearing this, Shirley Grant’s expression faltered. She had never imagined Phoebe would actually be transferred to become a Director. It was common knowledge that although they were all in the Secretary Department, most of their positions were practically the same. Only her position and Phoebe’s were slightly higher, as they were team leaders. The others held no particular rank. And now, Phoebe had become a Director. "We’ll seldom see each other from now on, but I’ll still come visit you all during break times." Phoebe was very pleased to see the change in Shirley Grant’s expression and turned to glance at Nia Mitchell as well. She thought Nia Mitchell, like Shirley Grant, would also have her elation turn to misery. But strangely enough, she did not see what she had wished for. This Nia Mitchell... she couldn’t understand her at all, completely beyond her control. "Well then, congratulations, Director Walker." After saying this, Nia Mitchell turned back to her computer. How strange. Why would Alan Morgan send her a message?
