---- Chapter 9 The memories of the five-year romance of Lucas and Eve were kept in the safe. Eve had edited them into a video and saved it ona flash drive. They had planned to play it at their wedding. Watching Lucas rushing out the door again, Alina was displeased. "Honey, ever since Eve was taken away by my dad, you've been absent-minded. You have been caught up in work and barely come home. You just returned yesterday evening, and now you're leaving again. And you are dressed to the nines." Lucas waved his hand to her, and he didn't even pause his steps. "| have urgent matters. | won't be back for dinner today. Don't wait up." The church was dimly lit, with candles flickering gently. The guests sat quietly, and the air was filled with the delicate scent of roses. The entire setting mirrored the wedding scene Lucas and Eve had once envisioned together. As Lucas presented his invitation, the host's eyes lit up. He ushered Lucas to the seat in the front row. This made Lucas even more certain that it was Eve's special ---- arrangement and that she still had feelings for him, so that she was giving him a surprise. Lucas's fingers tapped unconsciously on his knee, and his gaze was fixed on the church doors. Finally, the doors slowly opened. Eve appeared in a pure white wedding gown, and her face beneath the veil was breathtakingly beautiful. She walked arm in arm with Robert, step by step, towards the altar. Robert gave an intimidating aura, which was honed over decades, and silenced the hall instantly. Some sharp-eyed guests noticed that Kaden's ring had made its way onto Eve's pinky. Everyone understood what it meant. Seeing Eve, Lucas suddenly stood up, and his heart was pounding wildly. Was she walking toward him? He had always known Eve was beautiful, but he never imagined she could be so stunning like that. Eve's gaze met his briefly, and a fleeting smile tugged at her lips. As she had expected, Lucas had shown up and been seated in the place she had meticulously arranged. ---- The joy Lucas felt now would soon turn to disappointment. All the pain he and Alina had inflicted upon her would be repaid in full later. She had loved him for five years, and her love would end completely that day.
