Anton, together with his three roommates, Menard, Aldos, and Kent, returned to their room. His three roommates were all warriors. The room next to theirs was occupied by the three women who were part of their Squad, and their names were Fran, Mauri, and Suvina. Suvina was the priestess, Fran was the swordswoman, and Mauri was the archer. The third room assigned to their squad was the biggest, and it was taken by Captain Leonard together with the other four members of their Squad, who were Charlie, Dagur, Deron, and Emman. Charlie was a druid and the other healer in their group. The other three were a mage and a warrior, with Captain Leonard being a high wizard. If one would consider power alone on who was supposed to be the captain of the squad, it should have been Anton since he was an archmage, but since he put forward his intention of not wanting to be an officer but just a regular frontliner, Ormunda accepted his demands and treated him as one of the newbie adventurers who joined the “Special Forces”. Anton liked it that way. He just wanted to mindlessly mow down the undead instead of the one thinking about strategies and plans. He just wanted someone to point him out to the enemies and command him to destroy them, like a gun. Once his enemies were destroyed, he would then return to the base to rest and relax by watching animes or movies. “Have you read the guideline booklet, completely, Anton?” Menard asked. Menard was the one occupying the bed below him. Since it was a bunk bed and Anton could simply levitate himself to the top of the bunk bed using his Telekinesis, he told Menard that he would occupy it. “I did. Our ten days of training are basically making sure that we have enough exercise and that we learn how to coordinate with each other, learn each other's combat capabilities, and learn how to follow command.” “I don’t think 10 days is enough,” Menard said. “It isn’t enough, but that’s all the time we have,” Aldos added. “It’s so hot here! Can we open the windows?” Kent said. “We can’t. Mosquitos would feast on us,” Menard said. “Let’s use my magic item that lowers the temperature,” Anton said, then he retrieved one of his Frozen Orb air conditioners from his inventory and set it up on the single chair that was in their room. Anton could hear sighs of comfort from his roommates once the temperature of the room had decreased to something that would make their stay nice and cool. “I still don’t understand why you didn’t choose to be a captain, Anton. I know you’ve said that you want to be one of the people at the front, using your power to kill the undead, but captains could do that as well,” Menard said. “I’m a lazy person. I don’t want to use my brain power to form a plan or strategize or do anything like that. I just want somebody to point out a location to me and then say, “kill those undead!” Anton said. “Don’t you have any ambition to climb up in ranks? Once this mission ends, Ormunda could award you a title and a land and live your life as an idle noble,” Kent added. “I already have a manor and it’s a huge one too. According to my butler, if I want a noble title, I could simply buy it,” Anton commented. His roommates just sighed at his wealth. “Why did you join this 'Special Force' then?” Aldos asked. Anton gave his three roommates his history, starting when he was in Rendindura and his family’s escape from the Undead Coalition. He told them how the undead killed all of his close friends who were with him when he was at sea, and right now, this was his way of wanting to get back at the undead. Since his three roommates were young men, they were passionate as well, so they declared that they would help him in his quest for vengeance. Of course, Anton didn’t take their declaration to heart, but at the very least, they were beginning to get close to each other. Menard then told everyone to rest since they would be woken up by someone at five in the morning. Anton was a little tired since he had been busy the whole day. He didn’t want to look exhausted the next day, so he retrieved his Pearl of the Ocean item from his inventory and placed it beside his head. He woke up at around four in the morning, which was only four hours after they slept, but since he had the Pearl of the Ocean, he felt like he had slept for 12 hours. He tidied up his bed quietly and, using Telekinesis, floated down and went to the bathroom to freshen up. Because of his prodigious use of his Telekinesis spell, he never made a sound while cleaning his bed and his body, so he didn’t disturb his roommates. A few minutes before five in the morning, he stored the Frozen Orb air conditioner in his inventory and waited for someone to wake them up. At exactly five in the morning, Captain Leonard loudly knocked on their door and shouted at the top of his lungs for everyone to get up. Captain Leonard was surprised to find Anton sitting on the single chair inside the room, but his shout did woke up Menard, Aldos, and Kent. The three scrambled to the bathroom to freshen up, but Captain Leonard was surprised to hear that the three kept saying that they felt like they had slept for 12 hours instead of just a few hours. “It’s a magic item of mine, Captain. I have a spell that brings me restful sleep. Four hours of sleep and the body would feel like it rested for 12 hours. Not only that, the body would be rejuvenated during that rest period as if it actually rested for 12 hours, and it also allows me to sleep immediately when I close my eyes, but not as if I were drugged or bespelled or something like that. I will still be woken up by just a tiny amount of noise, just like when I sleep regularly. My magic item has a fairly large area of effect, so my roommates are lucky.” “Can I see this magic item of yours?” Captain Leonard asked. Anton retrieved his Pearl of the Ocean, which was placed inside a polished coral, and showed it to Captain Leonard. After studying it for a couple of minutes, the captain returned it to him. “Are you willing to sell that item?” the captain asked, and Anton, of course, said that it was a gift from friends and was not for sale. Thankfully, the captain did not insist, and after a few minutes of Anton’s three roommates scrambling, everyone then went to the field next to the dormitory building and started running for their morning exercise. After an hour of jogging, Squad 13 went to the mess hall with Captain Leonard beaming since it appeared that everyone in his squad had a good physical foundation and not one of them was breathing hard. Their breakfast was generous, and after a few minutes, they went to a very large room, which was one of the training facilities in the dormitory. There, they met an officer from the army who was supposed to assess everyone’s combat capabilities.
