It wasn't his business , and he was the enemy . At least , he was my enemy . I still didn't know where Knockout stood , exactly , though he seemed like he was concerned with keeping me safe . Which could be the wolf's doing . The calico wolf trotted beside the human man who was tasked with taking us to our cell . The human stepped back when we entered the room . It was a bigger , more spacious area than the other cage room for sure , though the cages were still far too small than was humane . But at least the wolves could fit without their bodies being squished by the bars . The bars themselves looked stronger . They were metal rods , and had gaps between them like those of a jail cell in the movies . I already liked the new cells better than the old ones , because they'd make it easier to scratch the cute wolves on both sides of my cage . I turned back to the human , confused as to why he wasn't leading us . Knockout's wolf showed me why , though . The wolf walked up the row once , then headed back . Sniffing the air the whole time , he inspected each cage . On his third pass , he finally stopped in front of on and looked at the human . The human man walked to us , opening the selected cage silently . He closed it , snapping the padlock into place . I had to assume the humans didn't know about Knockout's extra speed and strength , or they would've trapped him somewhere sturdier . Unless they did know , and he was working with them . The shitty possibilities were endless . Knockout's wolf settled on the ground of our cage on his belly , and I slid off his back . The cage on one side of ours held Carnage , so I went straight to him . Hey , buddy . It's been a while . " I reached both arms through the bars , wrapping them around his back . He smooshed himself up against the bars , giving a happy whine . I scratched behind his ears , and his foot began to thump against the floor . bit my lip to stop a smile ... And bit through my lip when fur vanished and skin took its place , A strangled screech escaped me as I scrambled away from the bars .
