The excited voice of the Demon echoed through the hall as the iron door was once again pulled open. In an instant, Todd screamed, a desperate cry of prey facing its hunter. But it was another companion who screamed even faster, and with dark vision, Todd saw the Demon, that Demon holding poor Gatsby’s head was slowly turning to look at him: "Two lost children, double the pleasure, come, accept judgment, Todd." Why does this Demon know my name! Todd screamed as he burst out through the wall, sprinting down the street at a speed of six seconds and seven per hundred meters, vaulting over a high wall, jumping to the top of the ruins. As he leapt, Todd turned to see the Demon similarly leaping to the top of the ruins. In the next second, the leaping Demon began to rotate, and the longsword in its hand seemed to have a glow. Landing, Todd rolled and crawled past his patrol team at home, dashing into the ground floor hall of a roadside ruin in their panic. As he merged into the darkness, Todd turned once more to see his patrol team collapsing like cut grass, while the Demon holding that sword was smiling and walking towards him. Leaping over large debris on the ground, those metal shells long corroded along with their internal structures, Todd’s four arms helped him grab the second-floor terrace, flipping up and pushing away the zombies that rose with the commotion—great, these zombies are very dangerous in the dark, let them hold off the Demon for just a few seconds! Just a few seconds! Looking at the break in the distance on the second floor, Todd ran towards the exit using both hands and feet. Never in his life had Todd been so attached to the light, and as he leapt through the opening, he wept with joy. Landing on the ground, Todd sped up once more—don’t be complacent, Todd, that Demon is so strong, the zombies may not be able to hold it off for long, don’t be arrogant! Don’t be complacent! Run, Todd! With determination in his heart, Todd ran across the street once more, ignoring the patrol team questioning his identity. In the moment he climbed the wall, Todd suddenly heard screams coming from the direction of the patrol team. As he flipped over the wall, Todd glanced in the direction of the patrol team to find the Demon shaking off blood from its sword, and the patrol team members already fallen in a pool of blood. As he landed from the wall, Todd saw the Demon looking at him with a slightly shy smile. Wait, what does it mean, shy? Why would I think a Demon’s smile is shy! Have you lost your mind, Todd! Crashing into the ground floor of the ruins, running swiftly in the dark, as he neared the exit, Todd pulled a yet-to-react zombie and tossed it out the opening, while leaping himself, landing on the terrace, and at the same time his Transcendent ability activated. Todd’s movements became soundless as he climbed along the protrusions on the outside of the ruins to the top, then leapt to the opposite side of the street, accelerating on the rooftop, and once more leapt towards a window in the ruins across. Great, I should have shaken it off by now! With joy, Todd heard clapping. His skull, covered in external matter, mechanically turned to the left, to see the flying Demon smiling and clapping. The next second, Todd crashed into the window crying out, desperately passing through the small room, smashing through the damaged door, colliding with a zombie, and then crashing out of a window. Turning his head, the Demon was watching him from the window, and the zombie was bashing its head against the wall again and again. Until skin and flesh split, until bones broke and tendons snapped. Falling from the air, Todd kept running—no, don’t despair, Todd, there will be a turning point in all of this eventually. After rounding a corner, Todd saw Lord Kayles. It’s Lord Kayles! Great! Lord Kayles is the champion chosen by the True God! He can definitely defeat that Demon. Thinking of this, Todd sped towards the God-chosen champion with all six limbs. Todd yelled, while looking back; there was no sign of the Demon on the path he’d come! Looking back, Lord Kayles’ torso was sliding down...and from the parted flesh, Todd saw the Demon smiling. Unable to stop, Todd crashed into the Demon’s embrace, the longsword piercing through his chest, delivering deadly pain. Todd struggled, resisted, and finally succeeded in pulling the longsword out of his chest, clutching his fatal wound, he collapsed onto the street. "You run fast, and when I called you Todd, you responded. You look like someone I know, but you are probably not him, nor is he you." The Demon said in a tongue-twister Todd could not understand. And evidently, Todd’s life was drawing to an end, his body began to smoke, it seemed flames were burning from within his shell. Why...why does it hurt so much, yet these flames can still make me feel warmth. "Ah...I...I seem to remember something..." Amid Todd’s chaotic memories, the figures of some people appeared, but quickly those figures vanished, and lying on the ground, he began his final self-combustion, divine energy igniting his desecrated and distorted body. When the divine enveloped Todd, in the last moments of his life, he remembered some things. We...are the remnants of a failed civilization...we were twisted in our minds, becoming pawns of Chaos... Turns out...we were the Demons all along... As pure white flames erupted from Todd’s seven orifices, this life completed his own purification.
