Chapter 31 Dr Elton sat across from Naomi looking perplexed at the test results in front of him. He had been reading them for a few minutes now and every few lines he would look up at Theon and then continue reading. Naomi had no idea what was going on but eventually he out down the file and beamed at Naomi. "It's good news for once" the Dr told them. "His blood tests and his heart and lung capacity tests all show signs of improvement. For the first time we are actually seeing an improvement in Alex's condition. Naomi was sat overwhelmed with joy. She knew not to get carried away as it was only one occasion with one small improvement, but she had waited for these words for years and she was overjoyed. Instinctively she reached out and squeezed Theon's hand. He looked at the happiness on her face and pulled her close. "I wonder...." The Dr said quietly to himself "What is it Doctor?" asked Theon "Well, he was here last week," the doctor responded looking thoughtful "and he was showing signs of further decline but you're here now and he is improving. I am wondering if having both of you with him is what Alex needed. Like the way the mate bond helps each other heal maybe Alex needed to be around it for him to get better. It's just a theory" he said shrugging. Naomi looked at Theon and rolled her eyes. "I am never getting rid of you now am i?" she asked playfully. "I will be moved in by the end of the week" Theon teased back. Well, Naomi hoped he was teasing. In fact, looking at his face she felt like deep down he was mentally packing his suitcase and checking out of his hotel room. "Let's not get carried away." Said Naomi. "We better get him from the day care. See you next week Dr Elton" Naomi said leaving his office, feeling a lot lighter than she did an hour ago. As they picked up Alex from the hospital day care Naomi told him he was doing better and asked him what he wanted to do to celebrate. She knew what his answer was going to be before he said it. "Ice cream and hot fudge sauce" he told her with excitement lighting up his little angelic face. Theon looked at Alex and laughed. "Do you have problems saying no to him when he looks like that?" Theon asked knowing he was probably going to be the weak link in the parenting chain of command. Thinking about it, Theon also realised it was probably a good thing he had a son and not a daughter or he would be doomed! Chapter 91 +15 Bonus Later that day after the ice cream had been enjoyed and they'd taken Alex to the park and museum, Theon went back to Naomi's apartment with his little family and helped make dinner and with the bedtime routine. After tucking in Alex and reading him a story Theon walked into the living room to see Naomi sat half asleep in her chair. He walked over to her and picked her up, like he was carrying a new bride, she looked startled for a moment then leaned her head onto his shoulder. He carried her into the bedroom and placed her gently on her bed. Looking down at her sleeping form Theon wanted to put Naomi in some kind of glass box where he could watch her sleep so beautiful, but the outside world couldn't touch or trouble her anymore. As she drifted off to sleep, he settled for lying next to her with his arms around her. The last thing he though as he drifted off to sleep was that he was going to make sure that from now on this was their life. Within 2 weeks this had literally come true. Naomi couldn't be sure when it happened but at some point Theon had moved his things from the hotel to her apartment. Most days Theon went into the office and Naomi was home and found herself missing him when he left for the day. She kept telling herself to get a grip. She'd lived without him for years she could survive 8 hours.
