Chapter 38 Although she struggled to eat through the tension in the room Naomi did enjoy the meal. The food itself was perfect, it was a special kind of beef stew that only her pack made and she hasn't realised she missed eating it until the first bite almost made her want to cry with all the memoire it invoked. The atmosphere between everyone was still a little tense, there were words that needed to be said but while Alex was awake and everyone was eating the elephant in the room was going to stay ignored for now. Alex was unare of any tension and sat chirping away telling his Grandma all the great things he liked about Mommy and Daddy. That Mommy always knew what his favourite ice cream was and she had magic kisses when he had a booboo, and that Daddy could push him really high on the swing but he wasn't scared with him there. Alex was completely unaware that even though his Aunt and Granma were nodding in approval and making noises of delight for the child that inside it was eating them up as they felt partly to blame as to why it had taken so long for the poor child to have these things. Margot turned to Naomi, tears in her eyes again. "Naomi" she said "He is remarkable. I am so proud of you, you have done a wonderful job raising such a wonderful little boy." Marie was nodding vigorously next to her, unable to speak as she was too choked with emotion. "He is such the spit of Theon at the age." Margot said touching his curls "Do you find this is the most stubborn hair you've ever dealt with?" "Oh goddess, yes!" Naomi said "How does it become a tangled mess when he is just sitting in the chair doing nothing?" Margot laughed, "I've never figured it out" She laughed again as father and son both scowled and ran a hand through their hair as if defending it. "Does he also fall asleep if he is travelling for more than five minutes?" "yeah" Naomi chuckled. "I have to time things perfectly so that we are leaving at nap time." Margot gave a knowing nod. She hadn't been expecting to be able to have such an easy time talking to Naomi but then again, she never had been someone to be petty or spiteful. But the Luna wasn't foolish enough to think all was forgotten but rather this was peace for the sake of her family. This made her respect Naomi more. After dinner Alex laid out on the sofa in the living room while the adults sat discussing some minor pack matters that were taking place. Margot and Marie looked at each other and then both turned to Naomi. Marie spoke first "we both want you to know how very sorry we are for the part we played in what happened to you. Even though the spell told us you were a false mate to my brother we still should have shown you more respect and have reasoned things out instead of just doing what Lilian said." She finished looking Naomi in the eye. She had the same grey eyes of Theon and the same earnestness about her. Margot agreed with her "Yes, it was atrocious and then when Theon told us the rest of what happened we were besides ourselves. Thinking we have no way to ever make this up to you. We don't expect you to ever forgive or forget this but we'd like to know if there is hope for us to try and move forward?" she asked tentatively Naomi let out a dramatic sigh. As determined as she had been to hold on to her anger and her righteousness, in the face of this genuine remorse she found that she didn't have the energy to cling to the past slights from these women. "It's fine. At the end of the day, you were tricked, and no one knew that Lilian would go for me like she did. Maybe if you all knew before that about my real wolf then you would have had more of a reason to pause for thought and distrust her. Theon did I tell you about my real wolf?" Judging by the confusion on his face she hadn't. So much had been going on she hadn't told Theon about Artemis. Naomi laughed to herself. "Okay, let me show you" With that Naomi stood up and went to stand behind a screen at the end of the room to undress. Behind the screen she began to shift. Theon could heard the sounds of her body adjusting and bending into place and see her shadow changing. But he wasn't seeing the small scrawny Omega wolf of Naomi's childhood. When she stepped out from behind the screen the Alpha family all gasped loudly. "Fucking hell" was all Theon could say. Naomi padded over to him and did a little twirl around before sitting on her back paws in front of him. He had heard of the legend of silver wolfs but he had never believed he would see one but there she was. The woman who kept getting better in his eyes was stood in front of him a huge she-wolf with glistening silver fur and shiny blue eyes. He swore if a wolf could look smug Naomis was doing it. Neo reached out to make contact with Naomi's wolf. Once Naomi had been marked by Theon they would always be able to mind link but for now at least one of them had to be in wolf form to do it.
