Zerra scratched her head. The tiger’s answer was really out of her expectations. "It really is as Cassias says..." she blinked. "It regards me as its other cub..." A little astonished by the situation, Laziel slapped his own knee. "Mutated animals now can adopt such an old baby?" Zerra shot her elder brother a glare. However, he wasn’t intimidated at all. He gave her a grin. Laziel found the situation funny and novel, but Nerith didn’t think so. She muttered dazedly, "It thinks of me as its competitor, right?" I am still mom and dad’s best daughter." Nerith pursed her lips. Outside of anyone’s expectation, she suddenly stepped forward. Before anyone could stop her, she went to the tiger. This time, the tiger didn’t growl at her, although it was still dissatisfied. Zerra had explained to it that they were her biological parents and it shouldn’t hurt them. Zerra was the cub it had recognized even if she was a fox and not a tiger. Naturally, it could sense that she differed from everyone else. It thought that Zerra didn’t have any parents–she was a stranded fox. So, it decided to take her under its wing. Unexpectedly, the fox cub had a pair of parents now. It was dissatisfied, but there was nothing it could do. "What if another tiger found your cub and adopted it as its own? How would you feel?" Zerra had asked it, giving the best example she could think of to describe their current situation. She was also quite astonished she suddenly gained another parent. All she did was get stranded in the forest and fall off a cliff. In response to her question, of course the tiger was unwilling to have its cub adopted and taken away from it. As an adult tiger, it could perfectly feed its own cub! As such, it realized Zerra’s parents’ situation and decided to make peace with them. When Nerith came close, it refrained its own instinct and didn’t refuse her touch. The tiger only snorted a little haughtily. Even when Zerra returned to her room, she was still in a daze. Overnight, she gained a tiger as a mother! Her feelings were a little complex, but the situation wasn’t entirely unacceptable. After all, she wasn’t really human herself. Cassias took the tiger back inside his space after he noticed the baby tiger had awakened and was looking for its mother. The little drama in the hallway came to an end. "Zee?" Laziel peeked his head inside. The door was slightly ajar. "Hmm?" Zerra raised her head at her elder brother. Seeing she didn’t tell him to go away, he stepped inside. His eyes were brimming with curiosity. She instantly understood what this curious soul had come for. "How do you do it? Can you teach me to communicate with mutated animals?" Laziel’s eyes were sparkling. Zerra secretly said in her heart: to communicate with them, you have to be one of them first. Alas, she couldn’t tell him that. Clearing her throat, she explained to him with a serious face. "Elder brother, I think it’s just my unique ability. I don’t know how I acquired it either. Once a mutated animal has gained enough intelligence, I can try to communicate with it." A disappointed look crossed his face. "Really...?" "It’s actually not that powerful. Most mutated animals’ thoughts are still chaotic, and they don’t have enough intelligence to communicate yet," she added. "It’s like that in the current situation, but they will evolve more in the future as time passes, right?" He let out a sigh. His gaze held slight envy. Well, she couldn’t refute that. The siblings conversed for a while about her power until Zerra couldn’t bear it anymore and kicked her elder brother out. She had been itching to check whether she had successfully solidified her third tail yet. After she saw Laziel walking away to his room, she closed the door with some excitement. Perhaps it was because she was too excited. Her emotions fluctuated, and she turned into a fox before she could fully close the door. Her heart thumped loudly against her chest. She hurriedly tried to close it, but her tail was getting in the way. She hugged her tails, her paw raised to close the door. "Zee?" A pair of eyes startled her so much that she jumped. She almost thought it was Laziel who had gone back to pester her again. Seeing it was Cassias, she snorted and let out a few yips in dissatisfaction. She peeked through the door. There was no sign of Laziel in sight. "You grow another tail." Cassias had an astonished look on his face. His evil paw went down, reaching her fluffy and soft tails. She swatted it away arrogantly. Cassias’ expression didn’t change. In a smooth voice, he spoke, "Laziel might see you . Let’s go to a safer place." Huh? Zerra looked at him with wide eyes. He could have just stuffed her inside and closed the door. Why did he bring her into the living room? "Your third tail isn’t completely solidified yet," he muttered as he set her down. "You might need more crystal cores." Zerra stared at her tail thoughtfully. She didn’t notice it before, but he was right. It looked less fluffy than her first two tails. Her little face was filled with a troubled look when she noticed some bald spots. As she inspected her third tail, Cassias also put a small cup of spring water in front of her. "Drink it first." She did as he told her, slowly licking the water and then eating the crystal cores. The tiger and its cub appeared, guarding her as she cultivated. Zerra entered a meditation state after she finished the crystal cores, and Cassias used his power to build a barrier so that she wouldn’t be disturbed. With Cassias’ help that night, she successfully formed her third tail. Unknowingly, she also fell asleep during her meditation. The next day, she woke up with a start, finding herself in an unfamiliar room.
